Private review for Jim Kaloutas

A look at kaloutas.com from the outside

I went through the site page by page, the way Google and a careful buyer would. It is in good shape. Below is everything I found, with where to find it, so whoever runs the site can work straight down the list.

Fletcher Crandall, Heard & Built Checked November 3, 2026 Not indexed. Only people with this link can see it.

The short version

  1. The site is well built, busy and current. Keep the system it runs on. Nothing here needs a rebuild; it is settings and copy inside what you already have.
  2. The biggest issues are about being found: some pages tell Google the wrong office, several services have two or three competing pages, and there is no structured data. Those are the fixes I would do first.
  3. A handful of facts on the site disagree with each other (square footage, office list, years in business, team titles). A careful buyer at a pharma or aerospace plant will notice.
  4. The rest is housekeeping: typos, a stale testimonial, odd characters in the text.
  5. As a bonus, I put together 25 New England plants in your three industries that are not on your client wall, in case it is useful to your sales team.
What is working

Credit where it is due

  • Every page I checked has a title, description, canonical and share image. That is more than most contractor sites manage.
  • Facility Rockstars is at 136 episodes and current (episode 136 went up October 22, every Thursday before that). That is a real asset and rare in your trade.
  • Kaloutas TV has about 210 videos and the blog about 360 posts. There is a lot of material to work with.
  • Testimonials are named, with titles and companies, and the client logo wall is strong.
  • Measurement is in place: Google Tag Manager, Google Ads conversion tracking, the LinkedIn Insight tag and a retargeting pixel.
  • Craft CMS with the SEOmatic plugin is a good platform. Most of the fixes below are switches and fields inside SEOmatic.
All 28 findings

Everything, in order of what I would fix first

Grouped by why it matters. Each one says where to look.

Being found on Google

  1. The North Andover page, your headquarters, describes you to Google as "Providence's premier painting and flooring contractor." It was copied from the Rhode Island page. /locations/north-andover-ma, meta description and share description
  2. Two pages each for New Hampshire and Providence. Google is told one of each is the duplicate, but the site's own links point to the duplicates, which sends Google mixed signals. /locations/newington and /locations/newington-nh; /locations/providence and /locations/providence-ri. The footer links "Newington, NH" to one and "Portsmouth, NH" to the other.
  3. Newington or Portsmouth? On both NH pages the title, address and map say Newington; the headline, description and body say Portsmouth. Every page's footer calls it Portsmouth. /locations/newington, /locations/newington-nh, site footer
  4. The office list does not match the footer. The Locations page lists Worcester, Peabody, Portland, Hartford, Holbrook and North Andover. The footer on every page lists Providence, Newington, Worcester, Stoughton, Portsmouth, Hartford, Portland and North Andover. Three offices are labeled with a town other than the street address (Worcester is in Auburn, Portland is in Gorham, Hartford is in Plainville). No office has its own phone or hours. /locations versus the site footer
  5. Two competing epoxy pages, each telling Google it is the main one. When Google cannot pick, it often ranks neither well. One is titled "Kaloutas | Kaloutas." /services/epoxy-flooring and /industrial-flooring/epoxy-floor-coverings
  6. Same for fireproofing (two pages) and containment (three pages). The menu links one fireproofing page and the footer links the other. /industrial-fireproofing and /fire-resistive-and-intumescent-paint-coatings-services; /industrial-containment-services, /industrial-cleaning/space-containment-services and /facility-maintenance/industrial-containment-services-contractor
  7. No structured data on any page. That is the code that tells Google "this is a business, these are its offices, this is a service, this is a podcast episode." SEOmatic produces it; it looks switched off or unfilled. every page I checked (28 pages)
  8. The home page title says "in Boston." There is no Boston office, and buyers search by the towns you are actually in. home page title
  9. Service areas differ from page to page: MA, RI and NH only; MA, CT, RI and NH; six states including Vermont; Bedford, NH. None match the office list. /commercial-painting, /facility-maintenance, /industrial-fireproofing, /commercial-caulking-services, /industrial-painting, /about/working-with-us
  10. The blog has no dates anywhere: not on the list, not on the posts, not in the code. About 360 posts, and neither readers nor Google can tell a 2020 post from a 2026 one. Several mention 2020 and 2021. /blog and every post
  11. Page titles cut off with a literal "..." in the code, and the brand doubled on others ("| Kaloutas | Kaloutas"). Google shows these as written. "...": /food-and-bev, /pharma-and-life-sciences, /locations/newington, /locations/north-andover-ma, blog posts, podcast episodes. Doubled: /industrial-painting, /industrial-flooring/epoxy-floor-coverings, /locations/providence
  12. On the Food and Pharma pages the headline itself includes "| Kaloutas" because the Google title was pasted into the headline. /food-and-bev, /pharma-and-life-sciences
  13. Meta descriptions that say "Click here," one that is only 53 characters, and several cut off mid-sentence. "Click here": /commercial-painting, /industrial-painting, /services/epoxy-flooring, epoxy-floor-coverings. Short: /careers. Cut off: /industrial-fireproofing, /facilityrockstars, /team/jay-culbert
  14. Image descriptions (alt text): gallery photos reuse the page headline, many images have none, and "Kaloutas Homepage" is used on pages that are not the home page. This affects Google Images and screen readers. service pages, especially /industrial-flooring, /facility-maintenance, /commercial-caulking-services
  15. A "please wait while your request is being verified" screen came up every time on five pages. If that also fires for Google or for a buyer on a corporate network, those pages are invisible to them. Worth asking whoever runs your firewall which rule triggers it. /aerospace-and-defense, /leave-us-a-review, /team/james-kaloutas, one podcast episode, one blog list page

Facts that disagree with each other

  1. The Industrial Flooring page says "over 10 million square feet" installed, and a few lines down, "over 3,000,000 square feet." Pick one and use it everywhere. /industrial-flooring
  2. "Since 1987" sits next to "over 30 years" in the footer of every page. It is 39 years. site footer, home page, About
  3. The testimonial carousel on almost every page includes a U-Haul quote looking forward to working with you "in the spring of 2014." home page and nearly every page with the carousel; also /testimonials
  4. On the Industrial Cleaning page, a quote praising Jay Culbert is attributed to the wrong person (Nora Pepper's name follows a different quote). /industrial-cleaning
  5. On the team page, at least five people have one title in the text and a different one in the photo description, so two staff lists are being kept: Elisha Prata, Jason Nicastro, Justin Bendzewicz, John Lydon and Ray Boudreau. You appear as both "Jim" and "James." /team and every team profile's grid
  6. The company is "Kaloutas" on the site but "Kaloutas Painting" on Facebook, LinkedIn and Google Maps, and "kaloutas88" on Instagram. One heading on Careers reads "Careers at kaloutas painting." site footer social links, /careers

Housekeeping

  1. A heading on most pages reads "What Make Kaloutas Different?" and sits right after "What Sets Kaloutas Apart," which says the same thing. home, About, most service pages
  2. Hidden hyphenation characters sit inside words across the site ("Indus-tri-al," "Hart-ford"). Copy a paragraph and the words come out broken; some screen readers stumble on them too. every page
  3. The phone number is typed with math minus signs instead of hyphens in places (978−532−1414), and appears three different ways. Some phones will not tap-to-dial the minus version. /industrial-fireproofing, /food-and-bev, /pharma-and-life-sciences and others
  4. "A.S.S." is listed as a service on both industry pages with no explanation. Spell it out. /food-and-bev, /pharma-and-life-sciences
  5. Blog teaser cards on every page repeat the post title twice and end with the word "[continue]." every page with the blog carousel
  6. Small code leftovers on every page: the Twitter author tag is a bare "@", there is an empty link in the header, and at least one page's share image uses http instead of https. every page; share image on /industrial-painting
  7. The estimate form is loaded by a script, not written into the page, so I could not see it to check that it submits or where it lands. Worth a test on a phone. /estimate and every "Get an Estimate" section
Page by page

Notes for each page I checked

The same issues show up across pages; these are the specifics for each one. Tap a page to open it.

Home page /
  • Title says "in Boston"; no Boston office.
  • The headline runs three ideas into one sentence ("More Than a Contractor. The Partner... Painting, Flooring, and Fireproofing").
  • 2014 U-Haul testimonial in the carousel. "What Make Kaloutas Different?" typo.
  • "Since 1987" next to "30+ years."
Industrial Flooring /industrial-flooring
  • 10 million versus 3 million square feet on the same page.
  • All gallery photos share the headline as their description.
  • Dur-A-Flex spelled two ways. "Anti-static flooring" listed but not linked to the ESD page.
Epoxy Flooring /services/epoxy-flooring
  • Competes with /industrial-flooring/epoxy-floor-coverings. Different web address pattern from every other service page.
  • Photo described as "Kaloutas Homepage." No product names, specs or project examples.
Epoxy Floor Coatings /industrial-flooring/epoxy-floor-coverings
  • Title reads "Kaloutas | Kaloutas."
  • The same two bullets appear under both Chemical Resistance and Thermal Shock.
  • Claims like "Highest Resin Content in Industry" and "Zero VOC" with nothing to back them up. A specifier may ask.
Industrial Fireproofing /industrial-fireproofing
  • "Industrial Spaces" listed twice in the industries list.
  • Lists Vermont as served; no Vermont office.
  • Phone typed with minus signs. Typos: "dry-and wet-mix," "a projects specific needs."
  • No UL or ASTM references, which fireproofing buyers look for.
Commercial Painting /commercial-painting
  • Says you serve MA, RI and NH only, though you have CT and ME offices.
  • A testimonial is coded as a heading.
  • "The best commercial painting contractors in the northeast" with nothing to support it.
  • The Massachusetts link goes to a Peabody page.
Industrial Painting /industrial-painting
  • Brand doubled in the title. Share image on http, not https.
  • "View Our Gallery" heading with no gallery under it.
  • Lists Bedford, NH as served (not an office) and leaves out Portland, ME (an office).
  • Containment, epoxy and fireproofing each link to different pages in different sections.
Industrial Cleaning /industrial-cleaning
  • Jay Culbert quote attributed to Nora Pepper.
  • The testimonials on the page are about painting, not cleaning.
  • Phone shown two ways. Fireproofing linked to two different pages.
Containment /industrial-containment-services
  • Two other containment pages exist and are linked from elsewhere on the site.
  • Several images have no description.
Commercial Caulking /commercial-caulking-services
  • Description says MA and New England; the body adds Vermont.
  • Six photos share one description. A testimonial is coded as a heading.
  • "Inspection Support," "Proactive Planning" and "True Partnership" headings with almost nothing under them.

Facility Maintenance /facility-maintenance
  • A section is headed "Kaloutas Provides Commercial Painting Services for," copied from another page.

  • Title cut off with "..."; headline includes "| Kaloutas."
  • "A.S.S." listed as a service.
  • "Our Customers" is one screenshot image, no names or logos.
  • The page's button goes to /contact while the menu goes to /estimate.
  • "FDA,etc." missing a space.
Pharma & Life Sciences /pharma-and-life-sciences
  • Same as Food & Beverage: cut-off title, "| Kaloutas" in the headline, "A.S.S.," screenshot instead of customers, /contact versus /estimate.
  • No testimonials or project examples, which pharma buyers will look for first.
Aerospace & Defense /aerospace-and-defense
  • Showed only the "request is being verified" screen on every try, so I could not review it.
Facility Rockstars /facilityrockstars
  • No dates on the episode list (the episode pages have them).
  • No Apple, Spotify or YouTube subscribe links, so a listener who finds it on your site has nowhere to follow.
  • The YouTube image on episode pages links to nothing. "Facilty" typo in the image description. The share image is an epoxy floor photo.
Blog /blog
  • About 363 posts, none dated. Teasers repeat the title and end in "[continue]."
  • Several city-specific posts (Nashua, Andover, Watertown) and posts that mention 2020 and 2021.
Kaloutas TV /video
  • About 211 videos, none dated. Newest year mentioned in a title is 2025.
  • "The Impact of Our Work" card points at no video. A blog post card sits in a video row.
  • "Invest In Yourself" exists as two pages. Dated videos still featured: "How to Set Goals for 2021," "Jim Kaloutas's 2020 Reflection."
Testimonials /testimonials
  • 14 testimonials, none dated, no logos. The U-Haul one mentions 2014.
  • Alexander Wong has no title or company.
About /about
  • Says branches in Bedford, NH and Providence and "over 80 field personnel." The rest of the site says eight offices.
Team /team, /team/jay-culbert
  • Titles differ between text and photo description for Elisha Prata, Jason Nicastro, Justin Bendzewicz, John Lydon and Ray Boudreau ("Director of Operations Manager").
  • "Jim" in one place, "James" in another. Lauren List's page address still says "lauren-dambrosio." Ryan Decker's photo file is named "Fontana."
  • Jay Culbert's page: no bio, and the typo "Bring positve passion."
  • "Angies List" label; it is Angi now.
  • Your own profile page showed only the verification screen.
Working with Us /about/working-with-us
  • Title reads like a careers page ("What it's Like to Work With Our Painters") but the page is for clients.
  • Says NH, RI and MA only. "Leave Us A Review" appears twice.
Safety on the Job /about/safety-on-the-job
  • No safety numbers (EMR, TRIR) or dated certificates on the page; ISN is a PDF link only. Pharma and aerospace safety teams often ask for these first.
  • "The Kaloutas Company Story" in the breadcrumb versus "The Kaloutas Story" in the menu.
Careers /careers
  • Typos: "reputible," "leardership," "finacial." Heading "Careers at kaloutas painting."
  • No openings listed on the page; the Paycor link appears twice. Description is only 53 characters.
Locations /locations
  • Six offices here versus eight different ones in the footer. Three labels name a different town than the address.
  • No phones or hours per office; the map is a static picture.
New Hampshire office /locations/newington, /locations/newington-nh
  • Two copies of the same page. Newington in the title and map, Portsmouth in the headline and text.
  • Garbled sentence in the intro ("energy and material handlers buildings"), "Containment" twice in one sentence, heading "Services At Our NH Location Location."
  • No hours or local phone.
Providence office /locations/providence, /locations/providence-ri
  • Two copies; the site links to the one Google is told to ignore. Brand doubled in the title.
  • No Providence street address anywhere; the map shows only a pin.
North Andover headquarters /locations/north-andover-ma
  • Description says "Providence's premier painting and flooring contractor."
  • Title cut off with "...". "Keep your facility running smoothly" twice in one paragraph.
Estimate /estimate
  • The form is not in the page code, only a background image, so I could not confirm it works.
  • Address shown without the state. A testimonial with an opening quote mark and no closing one. The service area is an image with no text.
Off the site

Other things I found

  • Directory sites still list you in Peabody, including Blue Book, Levelset and NAICS business listings. Your Angi link on the site also goes to a Peabody listing. Google uses these listings to confirm where a business is.
  • On a search for "industrial epoxy flooring contractor Massachusetts," Kaloutas was not on the first page; directory sites were. One search is not a ranking report, but flooring is a service where being found by town matters.
  • The site shows review links for Birdeye, Google (through a tinyurl), TopRatedLocal, Houzz and Angi. Houzz and Angi are mostly homeowner sites. Pointing reviewers to Google first helps the most.
Could not check

Worth a look from inside

  • Whether the site has a robots file and a sitemap, and what they say. SEOmatic normally creates both.
  • Whether a mistyped address shows a real "page not found" or quietly loads the home page.
  • Whether kaloutas.com without the www forwards to www.kaloutas.com.
  • The five pages behind the verification screen (listed in item 15).
  • Whether the estimate form submits and where it goes.
  • Google Analytics: it may be inside Tag Manager, which I cannot see from outside.
Bonus

25 plants your sales team might want to call

Open the list. Pharma, food and beverage, and aerospace facilities across New England, none of them on your client wall. Address, main line, what they make, the nearest Kaloutas office, and the public source for every field. Built from company websites and public records only. Yours to keep.

That's everything

Happy to walk through any of it with you or whoever runs the site.
